Oh Woe To you, Weary Scribes.

This was shared by findmypast UK on Facebook. It is a list of genuine contemporary notes which have been discovered written in the margins of medieval manuscripts. My favourite is:’ Now I’ve written the whole thing: for Christ’s sake give me a drink.’

I know that feeling.

    • You are welcome, glad you liked it. I suppose that’s history-the sad part, that all those people have already gone.
Don’t get me started on old photographs! I love them, but the people in them haunt me. No doubt I will be posting some from time to time- keep an eye out.

  1. No, never seen the movie. I have a book about the Book of Kells though, reproducing many of the pages. Seen some of the other ones too, like the Lindisfarne Gospels.
Lots of beautiful artwork, from the so called Dark Ages.
