      • I read a report that said poets died young- that is younger than all other type of writers, both fiction and non-fiction. (Though Dylan isn’t doing bad.)
        The report also said:

Poetry reflects emotional issues, usually deep rooted pain and suffering, the wounded soul. Many poets are tortured, dysfunctional souls, who have never found meaning in life.

Think I need to lie down on a couch and reflect upon all my neurosis’ đŸ™‚

      • Yes, Tomas Tranströmer died only last year, though he’d suffered the effects of stroke for a while, and he was a good age. The survey also said that female poets were more likely to suffer from mental health issues and more likely to commit suicide-think Sylvia Plath. But statistics, you know? There is a generalisation-think of the romanticism of the young ends of Byron and Shelley. Personally I don’t think I am tortured, not yet anyway, and I shall go when I go. I don’t think how I express myself creatively has anything to do with it. (If you don’t hear from me again, know that these lines have been read out somewhere as ‘his poignant and ironic last words’!)
