Taken in the early 1880’s, this is one of the earliest images of the East End of London.
I love the way the children appear insubstantial and ghost-like, which in effect they are. Lingering echoes of lives long lost, wandering along now vanished streets.
What a treasure! And how true!

Our time here is fleeting. That generation left barely a (pictorial) trace.

That is an interesting photo, and thought. One of my friends lost her son a few years back, she says that in their family photos there was always a brighter spot where he should of been, for three years, then he/it stopped showing up.

I’ve heard of similar tales, including from people whose honesty and character I can vouch for.

Yes, this is not a crazy lady that told me this. Everything else she says is very believable.

I am totally of the opinion that there is a ‘more’ to this life. It reinforces my attitude to life and my relationship with others too. Even my WP and FB friends!
