As yesterday was the solstice, I was feeling these Southern Californian summer surf-scene vibes from ‘64.
Love the old cars. Are those surfers still out there?

They are touring the world singing in harmony groups!

That must be longer than Dylan’s never ending tour!

Yep, we are still out there. That picture could have been the beach in Port Aransas Texas on any summer day. We didn’t have those cute shortboards yet but still managed to pull off some good rides. My boys grew up surfing and now, my two grandsons surf as well. Keeping it in the family.

I love it when traditions, whatever they are, are handed down.
Do you still live nearby to that same beach?

No, I live in Granbury, Texas in the hills. My son and his family live on North Padre Island at the beach, and about 20 miles from Port Aransas. My 3 grand kids are there for the 4th weekend and will be doing some serious surfing. We somehow managed to keep this a tradition in our family. I am 71 now and will try surfing for the first time since 1999 this coming August. Good blog.
